Amanda Molloy is our 2 to 3 Year Olds Team Leader and Deputy Nursery Manager. Amanda has a Degree in Childcare and Education and has been with Superkids since 2014.
“My passion for Early Years began at a young age, I love watching children grow and develop and watching them learn through play. I particularly like the relationships that are made with the children, not only between themselves, but forming those close bonds with children and offering them a safe and secure place to learn and grow.
I started with Superkids in April 2014 and completed my BA Hons degree in July the same year. Through my time at Superkids, I have gained lots of knowledge from other people, through starting as an Early Years Practitioner, I have progressed as a Room Leader, and now Deputy Manager. My years with Superkids have taught me so much, and I value my time here.
My vision for Superkids is to continue to provide an exciting environment for the children, an environment they can grow, develop and learn in and to provide a home from home experience.
Having a child in the Early Years myself, I enjoy watching him grow and learn and my interests include taking him to the park, allowing and watching him taking those important risks, and going on trips out.”
Preschool 1 – or Red Group as we call it – is a stimulating and busy environment for our children aged 2-3 years. This is when strong friendships are formed from time spent in the Baby and Toddler Rooms. It is also where we concentrate on developing new found confidence in speech and language. The move to a new room helps us build confidence as your child grows.
Developing confidence and independence are important at this stage and we encourage it by listening closely to children’s ideas and thoughts. In this way we allow the children to influence and contribute to our planning for activities which are most suited to their interests and needs. We are always looking out for the next step in your child’s learning journey, matched to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. This includes beginning to explore and learn phonics and other important skills which prepare your child for school, such as toilet training. A self-serve ‘snack bar’ allows children to recognise when they need to eat or drink.
Look out for the ‘Learning Intention’ board in the room, which helps parents to find out how to support their child’s interests at home. And it’s a two-way street – we like to know what your child likes doing or has achieved at home so we can incorporate it in their learning at nursery. Children learn best when their parents support them, as well as the grown ups at nursery or school. Your child will be assigned a key worker, who takes responsibility for monitoring and planning for your child’s learning and for keeping you up to date with their progress. They will also let you know how you can help at home and share your child’s achievements through their individual learning journey, which has photos, work and observation notes.
Our lovely, large outside space allows the children to explore their wider environment. With a growing area, mud kitchen, climbing equipment, small world area and sand pit there are plenty of opportunities for sensory, physical and imaginative development as well as critical thinking skills.
Red Group also offers:
- Toys and activities open and accessible to children to encourage independent learning
- Bright and interesting displays, strongly led by the children’s interests and work
- Independence in personal care through toilet and potty training
- Learning opportunities taken into our lovely outside space such as gardening and looking closer at nature
